Immersive Audio Exhibition 2026

As part of FDUK 2026 at CULTVR, Spatial Gathering presents an immersive audio exhibition of 24 immersive sound works by artists from across the world.

Selected through an international open call, the exhibition brings together a diverse range of approaches to contemporary sound and listening. The works span electroacoustic composition, electronic music, songwriting, field recordings and experimental sound practices, creating a varied collection of sonic experiences.

Utilizing an 8.1 sound system, some pieces explore carefully constructed electronic and acoustic textures, while others draw from environments, voices, found sounds and lived experience. Together, the works demonstrate the breadth of approaches to immersive audio, bringing contrasting practices and perspectives into a shared listening environment. The exhibition invites audiences to spend time with the individual works, encountering different sonic worlds and discovering the voices of artists working across a range of places, disciplines and contexts.

As part of FDUK 2026, the exhibition contributes to a wider programme bringing fulldome works and immersive audio together within one conference, creating opportunities for artists and audiences to experience different forms of spatial and immersive practice alongside one another.

Spatial Gathering is a Cardiff based artist led collective exploring spatial and immersive sound through artist development, events, experimentation and shared listening. The exhibition forms part of the collective’s ongoing work to create opportunities for artists to experiment with spatial audio and to connect audiences with new and diverse approaches to sound. This exhibition is supported by BEAST (Birmingham ElectroAcoustic Sound Theatre), The University of Birmingham.
