spatial gathering: open call
Spatial Gathering — Open Call
9–10 October 2026 | CULTVR, Cardiff
As part of this year’s FullDome UK (FDUK 2026), Spatial Gathering will take over a space at CULTVR, Cardiff, to present an exhibition of 8-channel sound works.
We are inviting artists and sound practitioners to share works that explore sound as a spatial, physical and immersive medium. We are interested in works that consider how sound can occupy, move through and transform a space — creating environments, encounters and ways of listening beyond the traditional stereo field.
We welcome a broad range of approaches, from experimental composition and electronic music to field recordings, electroacoustic work, voice, soundscape, improvisation and works that sit somewhere between these forms.
There is no set theme. We are interested in a diverse collection of sonic perspectives, ideas and approaches to spatial listening.
We are looking for:
8-channel fixed media sound works
48kh / 16-24bit files only
Maximum duration: 10 minutes
Any theme, subject or approach
New, experimental and exploratory works are welcome
Open Call Deadline September 7th 2026
Selected works will be presented on an 8.1 loud speaker system as part of the Spatial Gathering's Immersive Audio Exhibition at CULTVR during FDUK, creating a shared space for listening, exploration and encounter.
We are particularly interested in works that invite listeners to experience sound not simply as something to hear, but as something to inhabit, navigate and feel.
